Libis R. Bueno, the CEO and Chief Technology Officer of Domitek, a local business located at 100 Grove Street, held an essay contest were the winners will be awarded a laptop.

Mr. Bueno grew up in the greater Piedmont / Pleasant Street Neighborhood in Worcester and is aware of the financial struggles students from this neighborhood have. Mr. Bueno attended South High Community School, Job Corps and holds a Computer Science degree from New England Institute of Technology along with other various certifications. One of his goals, as a local businessman and as an individual who grew up in the streets of Worcester, is to promote technology access among youth to inspire a new path in their lives.

He created the essay contest after talking with some youths at the basketball court on Hawley Street, where he learned about their interest in technology. The students struggle with access to technology, which in today's world is so critical to educational success. Mr. Bueno's goal is to equip the students with tools necessary to excel in high school and beyond. As he put it, his company philosophy is "Investing in our future" something he would have loved to have growing up.

Simeon Matthews and Isaiah Marquez were selected as the winners for the laptops and Hector Rivera will receive a $50 Best Buy gift card.
